You two were meant to be together. It’s like some fucking wicked fairytale love story that you just can’t make up, y’ know?”
Fairytales. Yep. We’ve all read them and had them read to us since we’re out of the womb. Fairytales. So many of us wish for one, not even realizing that quite often one exists or has the potential to exist if we allow ourselves to see it. Not blinded by the things we’re told and taught. Not deafened by the words spoken to us-words that make us question or doubt if what we ’re feeling is real because our love might not “look” the way people around us expect it to. Words that tell us a love is not “right” or “acceptable” because of what THEY MIGHT THINK!!! True love, pure love exists and so do fairytales.
I’m not here by any means to give relationship advice or purport to have a perfect relationship. I am here to discuss the dragons, demons and sometimes the evil witches that try to keep us from seeing what is right in front of our eyes and prevents us from following our heart. Love that sadly, so many people let pass them by or stop fighting for because it seems so unattainable.
I invite you to open your mind and travel back to the beginning of my fairytale. I’ve been told many times, “You HAVE to write a book about this!” or “This could be a movie,” or “Oh my God, you two are just like ‘The Notebook’” (after I’ve sat with people and told my tale).
Maybe not in the traditional sense, but it’s full of dragons, demons, and witches. Twists and turns. Crazy coincidences, that now looking back couldn’t have possibly been.
I began with a quote and I leave you all with a quote…
“Every man’s life is a fairytale written by God’s fingers.”~Hans Christian Andersen
