So- A poet, a baker, and a singer walk into a bar…and I order a gin & tonic with extra lime!  They’re all me! LOL- Got you to read the blog, eh???

The world is a crazy place these days, and frankly, I really didn’t know what in the holy hell to write about.  Yeah, there are specific topics that volumes of encyclopedias could be written about (remember those?!) but there are so many people writing about them, and I wanted to share some feelings that I’ve been feeling lately, that I know some of you have been feeling also- but in a different way.

I have to be honest with you:  I am absolutely heartbroken with the state of the world, and this time of year is especially hard to deal with, because June 24 is the anniversary of my son’s birth and passing.  To think that I would have a 13-year-old son in a day…I have woven that thread into my personal tapestry (see earlier blog titled Tapestry), but when the date comes along, the pinch of the tapestry needle comes with it.

You all know me as The Feisty Warrior- Kicker of Cancer’s Ass, but I also am a published poet, bake custom cakes (hit me up if you need one!) and I have a degree in music. I present to you:  a poem, and a cover of one of my favorite songs.  The video, like the poem, is a casual, relaxed recording which is far from perfect- but none of us are perfect, right?

Love to all of you-

Imagine

Imagine the joy of your youth following you into adulthood

A world with no injustice

Picture children who grow up and stay for a while- leaving your mind and soul intact

Consider living each day in a place where no one is treated differently,

Where each soul is cherished and treated with respect

Ponder on the thought that the tears flowing from your eyes

Are actually cleansing the worries from your mind,

Freeing you to reclaim the peace you had once felt

Envision that each birth results in a healthy living baby,

A life that lasts more than a few hours, days, weeks, months or years-

And parents don’t need to spend eternity trying to glue together the millions of broken pieces of their hearts

Fancy a life that is simple and happy-because there is no unnecessary bullshit to complicate things

Perceive a future where people love each other, simply because we exist

Devise a plan to make that happen-because we need each other MORE

Than we need to waste time disrespecting, discriminating, and terrorizing

Imagine living in a world of peace

Just IMAGINE
